Comments
This enzyme belongs to the peptidase family-S1.
This enzyme is composed of light chain and heavy chain. Chain L (light chain) of PDB structures corresponds to the residues 328-363 of Swiss-prot P00734 or the residues 318-366 of Swiss-prot P00735, whilst chain H (heavy chain) of PDB structures corresponds to the residues 364-622 of Swiss-prot P00734 or the residues 367-625 of Swiss-prot P00735.
This enzyme has got the classical catalytic triad, Ser/His/Asp, along with "oxyanion hole" coposed of mainchain amide groups. The catalytic serine residue acts as a nucleophile to form a covalent-bonded intermediate, whilst the histidine residue acts as acid/base, which assists the nucleophile by abstracting a proton from the serine residue.
